Free Tickets
How to create and send free tickets for your events.
Sometimes you need to give someone a ticket without them going through the checkout process. Whether it is for a guest artist, a giveaway winner, or a friend, TribeNest makes it easy to issue free tickets directly.
How to send a free ticket
- Open your event from the Events List.
- Click the menu button and select Send Free Ticket.
- Fill in the recipient's details:
- First Name -- The recipient's first name.
- Last Name -- The recipient's last name.
- Email -- The email address where the ticket will be sent.
- Ticket Type -- Choose which ticket type you want to issue from the dropdown. This shows all active (non-archived) tickets for the event.
- Quantity -- How many tickets to send (minimum of 1).
- Click Create Free Ticket.
The recipient will immediately receive an email with their ticket details.
Free tickets count toward the total quantity of that ticket type. If you have 100 General Admission tickets and send 5 free ones, there will be 95 left available for purchase.
When to use free tickets
- Guest list -- Add performers, speakers, or VIPs to your event.
- Giveaways -- Fulfill contest prizes or promotional offers.
- Comps -- Send courtesy tickets to friends, family, or collaborators.
- Replacements -- If someone had an issue with their purchase, you can send them a fresh ticket directly.
Difference between free tickets and $0 tickets
There are two ways to offer free admission:
- $0 ticket type -- Create a regular ticket with a price of 0. Anyone can grab one through your event page by going through the normal checkout flow.
- Free ticket (manual) -- You personally send a ticket to a specific person using their name and email. They do not need to visit your event page.
Use $0 tickets when you want open RSVPs. Use the free ticket feature when you want to hand-pick who gets in.
