Product Variants

Add size, color, and other variants to your products so fans can choose exactly what they want.

Most physical products come in different options — sizes for clothing, colors for accessories, or different editions of a poster. TribeNest lets you add variants to any product so your fans can pick exactly what they want.

What Are Variants?

Variants are the different versions of the same product. For example, a t-shirt might come in:

  • Sizes: Small, Medium, Large, XL, XXL
  • Colors: Black, White, Navy

Each combination (like "Large / Black") is a separate variant that can have its own inventory count and price.

Adding Variants to a Product

  1. Go to Store then Products in your dashboard.
  2. Open the product you want to add variants to, or create a new product.
  3. Look for the Variants section on the product page.
  4. Click Add Variant Option (e.g., Size).
  5. Enter the option name (like "Size") and the available values (like "Small, Medium, Large, XL").
  6. To add another option type (like "Color"), click Add Variant Option again.
  7. Click Save.

TribeNest will automatically generate all the possible combinations for you. For example, if you have 3 sizes and 2 colors, you will get 6 variant combinations.

Managing Variant Details

After creating your variants, you can customize each combination:

Price per Variant

By default, all variants share the product's base price. If certain variants cost more (for example, larger sizes), you can set a different price for each variant.

Inventory per Variant

Each variant can have its own inventory count. This way, if you sell out of "Medium / Black" but still have "Large / Black" in stock, fans can still buy the available option.

Track inventory carefully

Keeping accurate inventory for each variant helps you avoid overselling. When a specific variant runs out of stock, only that variant becomes unavailable — the rest of the product stays live.

Editing Variants

  1. Open the product from your Products page.
  2. Scroll to the Variants section.
  3. Update the values, prices, or inventory counts as needed.
  4. Click Save to apply your changes.

Removing a Variant

If you no longer offer a particular variant:

  1. Open the product.
  2. In the Variants section, find the variant you want to remove.
  3. Click the delete option next to that variant.
  4. Click Save.

Active orders

If any unfulfilled orders include a variant you are about to remove, make sure to fulfill those orders first. Removing a variant does not cancel existing orders.

Tips for Variants

  • Be specific with names — Use clear labels like "Small (S)" or "Midnight Blue" so fans know exactly what they are choosing.
  • Add size guides — If you sell clothing, include a size chart in your product description to reduce returns and questions.
  • Start simple — You do not need to offer every possible combination. Start with your most popular options and add more as demand grows.
