Donations

Donations are the simplest way to let your fans back you directly. You set up a donation, add a Donate button to your site, and fans pick or type an amount and pay — no product, no membership, just a contribution. You get a record of every donor and can email them any time.

Where to find donations

Open Operations -> Donations in the sidebar.

The list shows every donation you've set up, with its Title, Minimum, Clicks (how many times fans opened it), Donations (how many completed), Total Raised, Status (Active or Inactive), and when you created it.

From here you can Create Donation, jump to View Payments to see individual contributions, or use the More menu on any row to View, Edit, or Delete it.

Creating a donation

1. Click Create Donation.
2. Under Basics, enter a Title (for example, "Support My Work") and an optional Description telling donors how their contribution helps. Both are shown to fans when they open the donation.
3. Set the Donate Button Text — the label on the button, like "Donate" or "Buy me a coffee". This label appears both on your site and in the donation window.
4. Under Amounts, optionally set a Minimum Amount so donors can't give less than that. Leave it blank for no minimum.
5. Add Preset Amounts — the one-tap suggested amounts fans see first. Click Add Amount for each (up to eight). Fans can still type a custom amount instead.
6. Under Fees & Confirmation, decide whether to let donors cover the processing fees (see below), and write an optional Success Message shown on the thank-you screen right after they give.
7. Under Thank-You Email, optionally write the Success Email Content sent to the donor after a successful donation. If you leave it blank, TribeNest falls back to your Success Message. The donation receipt is added automatically.
8. Under Visibility, keep Active checked so the donation can be opened. Turn it off to pause it — inactive donations can't be opened by visitors, even from buttons already on your site.
9. Click Create Donation.

Letting donors cover the fees

Every online payment carries a processing fee. If you turn on Allow donors to cover payment fees, the donation window shows fans a friendly Cover the payment processing fees checkbox. When they tick it, a small amount is added on top so the full amount they intended reaches you.

It's always the donor's choice — the checkbox is optional and off by default. If you leave this setting off, no cover-fees option appears and donors simply pay the amount they picked.

Adding the Donate button to your site

A donation only collects money once fans can reach it, so add the Donate button to your site.

1. Open your site builder and drop in the Donation button wherever you'd like it.
2. In the button's settings, choose your donation under Linked Donation.
3. Adjust the Button Text, add an optional image, and style it to match your site.
4. Publish.

You can place the same button on multiple pages, or point different buttons at different donations (for example, one for general support and one for a specific cause).

What the donor experiences

When a fan taps your Donate button, a window opens with your title and description and walks them through a few quick steps:

1. Pick an amount. They tap one of your preset amounts or type a custom one. If you set a minimum, it's shown here and enforced.
2. Cover the fees (optional). If you enabled it, they can tick the box to add the processing fees so you receive the full amount. The window shows them the approximate fee and running total.
3. Add their details. They enter their first name, last name, and email (so you can send a receipt), plus an optional short message to you.
4. Continue to payment. A summary shows the donation, any covered fees, and the total, and they pay through your connected payment account.
5. Confirmation. On success they see your thank-you screen with a receipt summary, and TribeNest sends them the thank-you email.

If a payment doesn't go through, the fan is told their card wasn't charged and can try again.

Viewing donations received

Click View Payments from the Donations list (or open Operations -> Donations -> Donation Payments) to see every contribution that came in.

Each row shows the Donor name, Email, the Amount they gave, any Fees Covered, the Total charged, the Status (succeeded, pending, or failed), their Message, and the Date. Use the dropdown at the top to filter to a single donation or view All donations.

You can also open any single donation from the list to see its running totals — clicks, number of donations, and total raised — all in one place.

Messaging your donors

Want to thank everyone who gave, share an update, or tell them what their support made possible? You can email all the donors of a donation in one go.

1. Open a donation and click Message Donors (from the header menu or the Donors card).
2. Enter a Subject.
3. Write your message in the editor.
4. Click Send Message.

TribeNest sends it for you to everyone who has donated through that donation. Past messages are listed on the donation's page so you can see what you've already sent.

Donations vs. payment links

Both collect one-off money, but they're built for different moments:

• Donations — a reusable Donate button on your site for open-ended support. Fans choose their own amount, optionally cover fees, and you keep a running total. Use for tip jars, "support my work", and fundraisers.
• Payment links — a single charge for a set amount you email to one specific person. Use for a one-off commission or "send me $40 for that shirt".
