Films and Series
Rent your films and series to your audience, priced your way, on a clock that starts when they press play.
If you make screen work, this is where you sell it. Upload a film or a whole series, decide what a rental costs and how long it lasts, publish it, and fans can rent it straight from your own page. No middleman deciding what your work is worth.
Turning it on
Film rentals are not switched on by default. Ask us to enable it for your account and Films appears in your sidebar, under Sell.
What a rental actually is
A rental is a paid window of time on a title. Three things make it work, and they are the three things you decide:
- What it costs, and for how long. Not one price, but as many rental windows as you want. Eight hours for less, forty-eight for more, side by side at checkout.
- When the clock starts. At first play, never at purchase. A fan can buy on Tuesday for Saturday night without losing four days of it.
- How long they have to press play. The shelf life, so an unopened purchase does not sit around for ever.
For a series, one rental covers the whole thing. A fan buys the series, presses play on any episode, and the clock covers every episode you have released.
What you can put in it
- A film. One video, uploaded and rented as a whole.
- A series. Episodes grouped into seasons, added a batch at a time, released on your own schedule.
- A trailer, which is public and free to watch, on either.
- Subtitles in as many languages as you have, on a film or on any episode.
- Free preview episodes, so a pilot can pull people into the rest of the season.

How it fits together
- Make the title. Choose a film or a series, name it, add a poster and a trailer.
- Get the video in. One master for a film, or a batch of files for a season. Processing happens automatically in the background.
- Price it. Add at least one rental window. A title with no window is not on sale and cannot be published.
- Publish. Fans can rent it from that moment.
- Watch it move. Every rental lands on the title's Rentals tab with how long that fan has left.
Your work stays yours
Your master is stored privately, never at an open address. Fans are served a protected stream marked with your own domain, and only while their rental is live. The trailer is the one part that is deliberately open to everybody.
