Submitting to Apple and Spotify

Getting listed in Apple Podcasts and Spotify comes down to one thing: giving each directory your podcast feed. You submit that feed once, and from then on every new episode you publish flows into those apps automatically — you never have to re-upload anything. This page walks through the readiness checklist, finding your feed, and submitting it.

Check you're ready

Open your show's management page and look at the Distribution panel. At the top you'll see one of two labels:

• Ready to submit — your show meets everything the directories need.
• Not ready — something still needs your attention. The checklist below shows exactly what.

Underneath is a checklist, with each item marked as passed, a warning, or something you need to fix. Work down the list until everything clears.

What the checklist looks at

• Cover artwork — you need a square image between 1400 and 3000 pixels, saved as a JPEG or PNG. The check tells you if it's missing, not square, or the wrong size.
• Apple category — you must pick a category for your show so the directories can place it correctly.
• Owner email — required so Apple can email you to verify you own the show.
• Author — recommended; shown as the author of your podcast.
• Language — recommended; defaults to a sensible value if you leave it.
• Episodes — you need at least one episode with an audio file. The check also warns you if any episodes are missing a duration.

Items marked as required must be fixed before you can submit. Items marked as recommended won't block you, but filling them in makes your show look more complete in podcast apps.

To fix a flagged item, update the relevant field in Show details or upload new Cover art on the same page, then click Save. The checklist updates as you go.

Copy your podcast feed

Once your show is ready, you need its feed — a single link that Apple Podcasts and Spotify read to find your show and its episodes.

1. In the Distribution panel, find the Podcast RSS feed field.
2. Click the copy button next to it to copy the link. (You can also click into the field to select it and copy manually.)

Submit to the directories

With your feed copied, submit it to each app you want to appear in. Your show's page gives you a shortcut to both.

Apple Podcasts

1. In the Distribution panel, click Submit to Apple.
2. This opens Apple's podcast submission site. Sign in with your Apple account.
3. Add a new show and paste in your podcast feed when asked.
4. Apple sends a verification email to your show's Owner email — open it and confirm to prove the show is yours.
5. Apple reviews new shows before they go live. Once approved, your podcast appears in Apple Podcasts.

Spotify

1. In the Distribution panel, click Submit to Spotify.
2. This opens Spotify's podcast site. Sign in with your Spotify account.
3. Add your show by pasting in your podcast feed.
4. Follow Spotify's steps to confirm ownership and finish.

After you're listed

• Publishing a new episode? Just add it as usual — it will appear in Apple Podcasts and Spotify without any extra steps. See Adding episodes.
• Updated your artwork, title, or description? Save the change on your show's page and the directories pick it up on their own.
• Approval can take a little while. Both Apple and Spotify review new shows on their side, so don't worry if your podcast doesn't appear the instant you submit.
