Creating a podcast
Set up a new show with its title, artwork, description, and the details Apple Podcasts and Spotify need to list it.
Before you add any audio, you set up the show itself — the name, the cover art, and a handful of details that podcast apps read when they display your podcast. This page walks through everything on the setup form so you know exactly what each field does.
How to create a podcast
- In your dashboard, open Podcasts from the main menu.
- Click New Podcast in the top right — or Create your first podcast if this is your first one.
- Fill in the show details (covered below).
- Click Save.
When you save, TribeNest takes you straight to the show's management page, where you can add episodes and later submit your feed.
Show details
Title
The title is the name of your podcast — what fans see on your website and what listeners see in Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Keep it clear and recognisable; this is the name people will search for.
URL slug
The slug is the short, web-friendly version of your title used in the show's address on your site (shown after /c/). TribeNest fills this in automatically from your title, but you can edit it. Use lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only.
Description
A short summary of what your podcast is about. It appears on the show's page on your website and travels with your feed to podcast apps, so write it for a first-time listener deciding whether to subscribe. This field is optional, but a good description helps your show get discovered.
Default layout
This controls how your episodes are displayed on your website. For a podcast, choose Episodes — it shows each episode as a row with its title, its length, and an inline player fans can press play on. (The other layouts, Grid and List, are better suited to written posts and photo galleries.) New podcasts start on the episodes layout for you.
Podcast details
Everything under Podcast details feeds the information that Apple Podcasts and Spotify read about your show. A valid Apple category, an owner email, and square cover art are all required before you can submit your podcast — so it is worth filling these in carefully.
Author
The name shown as the show's author in podcast apps — usually your artist or brand name. It is recommended, though not strictly required to submit.
Owner email
The contact email for the show. Apple emails this address to verify that you own the podcast, so use an inbox you actually check. This is required before you can submit.
Use an email you can access
Apple's verification email goes to the owner email exactly as you enter it. If you can't receive mail at that address, you won't be able to confirm your show — double-check it before submitting.
Apple category
Pick the category that best describes your show from the list. Apple Podcasts and Spotify use it to place your podcast in the right part of their directories. A category is required before you can submit.
Subcategory
Once you choose a category, you can optionally narrow it down with a matching subcategory. If your category has no subcategories, this stays empty.
Language
The primary language of your show, so apps can list it correctly. This defaults to a sensible value, and you can change it if your podcast is in another language.
Copyright
An optional copyright line for your show — for example, your name and the year. It appears in the details apps display for your podcast.
Contains explicit content
Tick Contains explicit content if your episodes include explicit language or themes. Apple Podcasts and Spotify use this to label your show appropriately for listeners.
Cover art
Your cover art is the square image that represents your show everywhere — on your website, in Apple Podcasts, and in Spotify. You upload it from the show's management page after creating the podcast.
- On the show's page, find the Cover art panel.
- Click Upload art and choose an image from your device.
- Your new artwork appears in the preview once it finishes uploading.
For your show to be accepted by the directories, the artwork must be square and between 1400 and 3000 pixels on each side, saved as a JPEG or PNG. The readiness checklist will flag your artwork if it doesn't meet these requirements — see Submitting to Apple and Spotify.
After you save
Once your show is created, you land on its management page. From here you can:
- Upload your cover art
- Add your first episode
- Edit any of the show details at any time
- Check your readiness and grab your feed when you are ready to submit

You can edit everything later
Nothing here is permanent. You can update your title, description, artwork, category, and every other detail whenever you like from the show's management page — just click Save again.
