Collecting submissions
Let visitors add entries to your collection — a review, a listing, a resource — then review and approve what comes in before it goes live.
Collections don't have to be something only you fill in. You can open a collection up so visitors submit their own entries — a directory listing, a review, a community resource — and everything they send lands in a review queue for you to approve or turn down. You stay in control of what actually goes public.
Turning on submissions
- Open the collection and go to its Fields page.
- Scroll to the Submissions section.
- Turn on Public submissions.
- Set the options below to fit how you want submissions to work.
- Click Save.
Choose which fields visitors can fill
Submitters can only set the fields you've marked Accept in submissions in each field's settings. Everything else stays yours to fill in — so a submission form only ever asks for the parts you want the public to provide. Turn that switch on for the relevant fields over in Designing your fields.
Submission options
Once submissions are on, you can tune how they behave.
Who can submit
Decide who's allowed to send an entry:
- Logged-in members only — visitors must be signed in to your site.
- Anyone (anonymous) — open to any visitor, no account needed.
- Members or anonymous — either works.
If you allow anonymous submissions, you can require anonymous submitters to provide a Name and/or an Email (kept private, for your reference) so you know who sent what.
After submitting
Choose what happens the moment someone submits:
- Hold for review — the entry arrives as a draft in your review queue. Nothing goes public until you approve it. This is the safe default.
- Publish immediately — the entry goes live right away. Use this only when you trust submissions enough to skip a check.
Attach to
If your collection has a reference field, you can pick it here so each submission is automatically linked to a related entry. For example, a "Reviews" collection could attach every submitted review to the lawyer it's about.
Limits and notifications
- Max per day per person — cap how many entries one person can submit in a day, to keep things sane. Leave it blank for no limit.
- Email me on new submissions — get an email whenever something comes in. You can send those notices to a specific address, or leave it blank to use your TribeNest account's owner email.
Reviewing submissions
When submissions come in set to hold for review, they wait for you in the collection's entries as drafts.
- Open the collection's entries.
- Click the Pending review filter. When there are submissions waiting, it shows a count badge so you always know how many need attention.
- Click any pending entry to open it. Review the details, and edit anything if you need to tidy it up.
- When you're happy, publish it — flip the Published switch inside the entry, or use the entry's ⋯ menu and choose Publish.
Pending entries that came from a visitor are marked as submitted — and show the submitter's name when one was given — so you can quickly tell them apart from your own drafts.
Turning a submission down
Not every submission belongs on your site. To decline one, open its ⋯ menu and choose Archive. It's taken out of the queue and won't appear publicly.
Published means public
Once you publish a submitted entry it appears on your site just like any entry you added yourself. Give submissions a quick read before approving — especially anonymous ones.
